Discount Calculator
percentage calculator
How It Works
The calculator multiplies the original price by the share that remains after the discount to find the sale price, then subtracts that from the original to show your savings. When you add a second discount it is applied to the already-reduced price, not added to the first — so "25% off plus an extra 10%" is less than 35% off in total. The calculator shows the true combined discount, which is the figure that actually matters at checkout.
Formula
Sale Price = Original × (1 − Discount%) Savings = Original − Sale Price
Examples
$80 at 25% off
A $80 item at 25% off costs $60, saving you $20.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate a percentage discount?
Multiply the original price by the discount percentage to find the savings, then subtract from the original. For $80 at 25% off: $80 × 0.25 = $20 saved, final price $60.
How do stacked discounts work?
Stacked discounts apply one after another, not added together. "25% off plus extra 10%" on $80 = $80 × 0.75 × 0.90 = $54, a total of 32.5% off (not 35%).
