How It Works

Enter a net amount and the calculator adds VAT by multiplying by the rate, giving the gross price a customer pays. Enter a gross amount and it works backward, dividing by one plus the rate to separate the underlying net price from the VAT portion. Businesses use the reverse mode constantly, since invoices show a VAT-inclusive total but accounts must record the net sale and the VAT collected separately.

Formula

VAT = Net × (Rate ÷ 100)
Gross = Net + VAT
Reverse: Net = Gross ÷ (1 + Rate)
